I’m going to be honest, I used to be against buying home decor off Amazon. I know, crazy, right? I always thought they only carried home essentials and knock off/cheap decor because that’s what I saw when I browsed. Back then, I didn’t understand that if someone were to dig deep enough, there was a whole world of beautifully crafted items just waiting to be discovered. Beautiful items made by talented new and upcoming artists, as well as very popular and well known artists — which really surprised me.
Now, I am amazed by what I find on the site! It takes me a few hours to get there, of course. But after changing my wording around, using five different synonyms for every word, and then scrolling to page 999 on each of them — I eventually end up with a good selection of amazing items!
NOT THAT I DON’T ENJOY A DEAL
When I say I was against shopping on Amazon because I thought it was all cheaply made, I don’t mean that in a “I’m too good for knock off items” type of way. I am definitely not against getting a decent item for half the price of the original, don’t get me wrong. What I meant by that is, I like quality. I am a quality over quantity type of gal. Owning something well made, sturdy and original, that I know will last me a while, is much more satisfying to me than something that isn’t. To those of you who like a cheap buy, that’s perfectly alright too! Everyone has their preference and we’re all equally correct in our justification of why we believe it to be so!
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
With that being said, I should tell you, I LOVE primitive, antique and original items. I owned an antique store in my twenties and it was the most joyous time of my life, so far. Eventually, the hunting for items and having to travel all over the states just to find the products I loved really took a toll on me. I’m very picky, and some days I came home empty handed after hours of being on the road. It really became a job for me and I started to resent it. So, I decided to close down my shop and save the travels and flea markets for special occasions or even vacations!
Now, although I still love my authentic finds the most, I search for new items that have the same qualities and characteristics of the authentic items I love. Which is why many of the products I share with you, and love the most, are handcrafted, carved or ethnic styled products. I just can’t seem to get away from the look and feel of authentic worn beauty — even if it comes with a hefty price tag. (Which isn’t my best quality, I will admit.) But hey, what are you gonna do, you can’t help what you like, right? I sure know I can’t!

Honestly, I didn’t get a lot of them from Amazon, but little did I know, the site actually sells a lot of items I have in my home.
